Ogni rappresentazione fotografica è imperfetta, flawed, per definizione.
Una fotografia è un frammento di realtà registrato in una frazione di secondo, brevissima. Con un tempo di scatto di un millesimo di secondo servono 60.000 scatti per mettere insieme un solo minuto di vita. Affermare che un’immagine fotografica sia rappresentativa della realtà che riproduce equivale a pretendere che una parola stampata scelta a caso possa farsi interprete del significato di un intero libro.
Eppure spesso accade un miracolo.
Uno sguardo, un dettaglio, un’ombra, un colore… ed ecco che la fotografia assume una potenza evocativa che nessun altro mezzo espressivo è capace di eguagliare con la stessa sintesi. Quando questo avviene, quell’attimo può diventare un’intera storia. Quando questo avviene quella foto può attrarci fatalmente o turbarci profondamente.
Il fotogramma passa attraverso la lente della nostra sensibilità e delle nostre emozioni, si separa per sempre dall’attimo che lo ha generato e ne diventa un’interpretazione. Diversa per ciascuno di noi.
La produzione di questi “frammenti”, funzionale alla loro visualizzazione su carta o su monitor, è ciò che oggi è diventata la Fotografia moderna.
Un mondo enormemente vasto, composto da molti generi che vi coabitano, spesso senza confini precisi.
Io sono attratto prevalentemente da due territori di questo mondo, apparentemente molto diversi e lontani tra loro, ed ho cercato di esplorare entrambi con rispetto, ricevendone in cambio molta soddisfazione: i volti delle persone ed i colori delle cose.

Every picture is flawed, by definition.
A picture is a “spark” of reality, recorded in a very short fraction of time. Putting the shutter at 1/1000 sec. you need 60.000 shots to keep together a single minute of life.
Therefore, to pretend that one shot could represent the “reality” is like to assume that a single printed word could represent the significance of an entire book.
However, frequently a miracle happens.
Thanks to a face, a color, a shade, a detail… a picture speaks as no other form of expression is able to do. When this happens, that moment becomes a whole story.
When this happens a picture can fatally impress you or deeply disconcert you.
That “spark”, running through the lens of your emotions and driven by your personal sensitivity, will be turned for ever in an interpretation of the portrayed moment.
Different for each of us.
The creation of those “sparks”, to be visualised either on paper or trough the screen, is what today we call modern Photography: a huge world with many genres and without clear boundaries.
Personally I’m mostly attracted by two territories of this world, seemingly far and different from each other, and I’m still exploring both with great respect, receiving some satisfaction in exchange: faces of people and colors of objects.
